Desire of Every Nation

God is shaking what is temporary so that we may discover what is eternal. He is shaking both the heavens and the earth in order to bring the nations to His glory. In the Book of Haggai, the prophet reveals the heart of God: “I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory,” says the LORD of hosts (Haggai 2:7). God is revealing His greater purpose which is to bring His glory, His peace, and the nations themselves into His presence. This gathering of the nations has already begun and continues to unfold before our eyes.

The world longs for the fruit of Christ’s Kingdom, yet many have not encountered the Source. Hearts are restless and hungry, being prepared to seek what is eternal. God is shaking earthly powers and disrupting established human power structures. Empires rise and fall, political authority shifts, and nations move through seasons of upheaval and decline. Yet through these events, God is directing history toward His unshakable Kingdom.

This shaking is not only physical; it is moral, social, and spiritual. Kingdoms collapse, societies experience chaos, and hearts are awakened. Through these moments, God exposes what is fragile while revealing what is eternal.

Even among His people, the shaking reveals the limits of political power, economic systems, human pride, and false security. What will remain is what God Himself establishes, His truth and faith, His Kingdom, and the work of the Holy Spirit.

Humanity’s search for meaning, identity, justice, and righteousness reveal a deeper longing within the nations. This longing for peace and restoration – evident in today’s world and marked by economic uncertainty, global conflict, political instability, and rapid cultural change.

Movements for peace, unity, and spiritual searching appear across cultures, yet human systems cannot provide lasting security. The shaking of our time exposes the limits of human power and points us toward a greater reality.

As Scripture declares: “The latter glory of this house shall be greater than the former” (Haggai 2:9). The temple built by Solomon was magnificent in wealth and architecture, but the true glory of God is not found in gold, buildings, or religious structures.

Even when humanity often returns to what is familiar, God’s sovereign purpose will prevail. He will gather His people, He will dwell among them, and draw the nations to Himself. In the end, all nations will come to worship Him!
