Camp Establish

Camp Establish was a camp of many firsts for Generations. For the first time, we headed to Batam as a youth ministry, and it became a powerful time of encountering God. Building on 2024’s Camp Venture, which called us to venture out as a united army, Camp Establish served as a time of preparation where we learnt what it means to be rooted in God’s Word, refreshed by His presence, and ready to be sent out for Him. Anchored in Colossians 2:6-7, we desire to be a people who walk in Christ Jesus, rooted and built up in Him, established in the faith, and abounding in it with thanksgiving.

Throughout the four-day camp, Pastor Sabrina and Pastor Rachel shared the Word alongside many precious stories that brought it to life. We intentionally made space for God to speak by putting aside our phones and staying focused during sessions. As we dug deeper into what it means to abide in Christ, ascend spiritual Zion, and live as disciples of Christ, Geners were seen attentively taking notes in their camp booklets and flipping through their physical Bibles. What felt slightly uncomfortable soon became a rhythm, helping us tune our hearts to hear God.

This year also marked the first time we had parent chaperones join us at camp. Beyond looking out for our safety, they also played a key role in ministering to us. In one session, every camper was prayed for by a parent volunteer. Many were moved to tears as parents prayed and prophesied. One Gener shared how a parent released a prophetic word about a group of people God had already placed on her heart to reach, confirming what she had been hearing from the Lord.

A defining moment came on Day 3. After preaching about discipleship, Pastor Sabrina gave an altar call for anyone who wanted to be a disciple of Jesus. In response, we were invited to stand and declare, “I want to be a disciple of Jesus!”

There was no background music, no fancy lights or fanfare, and the silence that followed carried weight because it was a decision that required us to count the cost. Then, a loud voice rang out from the back, “I want to be a disciple of Jesus!” One by one, Geners stood up, broke out of fear, and boldly declared devotion to Christ. Many trembled and wept as God gripped their hearts.

One Gener shared that he had struggled with insecurities and addictions that brought him shame and guilt. Deeply stirred by God, he plucked up courage and responded to the call. As he surrendered himself to God, he found a renewed desire to go deeper into the Word. Another Gener who responded shared that he felt such a weight of God’s presence that his body began to shake. In that moment, he sensed the Holy Spirit speak clearly about the plans God had for his life.

Geners were not just equipped during sessions, but they also engaged through the camp programmes, which were intentionally crafted with the camp’s vision in mind. They were taken on a journey where they first learnt to tend to ‘weeds’ on the surface of their lives, representing the importance of dealing with the sins that easily ensnare us. On Day 2, they played games that required endurance, agility, and unity, where they learnt that deepening our roots in God requires us to be intentional in our spiritual disciplines. Finally, on Day 3, Geners learnt about the importance of being equipped with the full armour of God and standing together as a united army of Christ.

We thank God for His presence throughout the camp, and for every leader, pastor, and parent chaperone who served faithfully. Camp Establish reminded us that the call is not only to encounter God in a camp setting, but to keep walking with Him daily: rooted in His Word, refreshed by His presence, and ready to live as disciples wherever He sends us. We pray that what God began in these four days will continue to deepen in the life of every youth as we grow into a people established in faith.
