Cells Blessing the Community

Before the Circuit Breaker and social distancing measures were implemented in Singapore, many of our Cells seized the opportunity to go out into the streets to bless the community with care packages. Here are some of their testimonies!

There was no better way to spend Friday night than with the Cell, giving out care packages on the streets of Chinatown! Seeing the smiles on the people’s faces as they received the care packages made all the hard work worth it. Despite the decline in his business due to COVID-19, one vendor we talked to even wanted to give us one of the musical instruments he was selling to show his appreciation. His act of gratitude moved us greatly and I’m glad to be part of this family who loves and serves the Lord with passion. It is indeed more blessed to give than to receive. — Chong Jialing

My Cell did a small outreach around our church’s vicinity. In pairs, we prayed and asked God for a picture/message to be drawn or written on the Care Cards for those He was going to lead us to. One of the pairs felt led to go to Giant Supermarket along Joo Chiat Road. They sensed that they were to reach out to a lady in yellow. The Holy Spirit directed them to buy some food items in the supermarket to bless the lady they had found and another staff. Interestingly, one of them had received a prophetic impression of the images on the food packaging just before stepping out in faith. Both of them were working on the night shift and they were pleasantly surprised to receive the gifts. Beaming with joy, they expressed their gratitude to the Cell members repeatedly. The Cell members felt that this was an open door, and will come by to connect with them again.

The Cell gave out 100 care packs to bus captains, cleaners, taxi drivers, SMRT staff and Grab Food riders located at Ang Mo Kio Central! From writing the cards, buying and packing the goodies and giving them out, the Cell family made full use of this opportunity to bring hope to our community during this time of crisis. This is God’s love in action! — Daniel Tang

This morning, we went out to distribute two gifts from Cornerstone Cares to two uncles serving our estate. One was a sweeper and the other was a Shell petrol attendant. Both of them were pleasantly surprised to receive the gift from Cornerstone Community Church. They were filled with joy and thanksgiving for being appreciated for their work.

It was a good time! We went to one of the blocks at Jalan Batu, where our Cell meets. The residents were mainly elderly folk who live in one room flats. Most of them were grateful for the kind gesture. We managed to chat with a few of them and asked them how they were doing too. We also gave the packs to a Bangladesh worker and an one homeless Indian man.

At the end of the evening, we left with our hearts enriched in this process. It’s more blessed to give than to receive indeed. It was also an opportunity to see some newer Cell members step out of their comfort zone. One of our Cell members mentioned that she had never seen her fiancé so bold in approaching strangers before.

One of my Cell members who is a property developer asked if we could give care packages to his foreign workers as they were fearful due to the pandemic. We went to distribute Care packages to the foreign workers and prayed for those who were open towards us, for God’s peace and protection to be upon them. There were a few who also asked us to pray for their family members back home. My Cell member was very encouraged that we had gone to bless the workers and said we can do this more often.
